VISUAL ART

SoloType

SoloType is an exploration of juxtaposition that consists of 100 individual works. It is a visual study in contrasts, inspired by the duality of the taijitu. The pairings found in the visual series are numerous, ranging from the physical markings made by hand versus the structured repetition of the typewriter artifact, the contrast of color and shade, and the meeting of the abstract and the almost recognizable. All pieces are entirely physical in creation, feature various mark-making techniques, and are scanned at high resolution.

Tranquilo
Type

A spiritual successor of sorts to SoloType. Tranquilo Type was created to lessen the restrictions I had placed upon myself working on the SoloType series. This enabled further color exploration and the discovery of different techniques that would later be utilized in my art across collections. Tranquilo Type is a slowly progressing series with a focus on ink of all colors, exploration, and the utilization of a typewriter. Above all, it is a reminder to be cool and enjoy the ride.

Wu Wei

Wu Wei is an ongoing abstract visual art series utilizing ink on paper. The pieces that are a part of this collection are entirely physical in their creation. Freedom and exploration are the main inspiration. Wu Wei, action through inaction (one rough translation), is a large part of the conceptualization of the series, allowing that which emerges to come of its own accord. Letting the plan be in the unfurling, and not that which one expects.

P!NK L!ME

P!NK L!ME is a continuation of the discoveries and explorations of OCP. This series evolves the digital landscape with the introduction of photography. Exploring digital and glitch painting with photographic elements, therefore taking each to a new dimension by forcing their interaction, P!NK L!ME capitulates upon the concepts touched upon in previous works. Teacups, pink elephants, the psychedelic—these are the keys to this gallery.

OCP

O(range)C(yan)P(ink) was the first series I created in order to explore blockchain technology. Utilizing years of digital design and experience from creating album covers and other visual pieces, I set out to create a series of twenty-five 1:1’s in Adobe Photoshop. The pieces feature various digital methods and have qualities that are reminiscent of glitch, optical illusion, geometric design, and more. A limited color palette is the limitation set upon the artist for this collection.
